Raw Materials Database for drinking water products launched by DVGW CERT, figawa and Kiwa

Certifiers DVGW CERT and Kiwa and German water and gas sector association figawa will work together on the development and management of a database for raw materials used in products and equipment for drinking water. This Raw Materials Database should shorten the approval process of raw materials, which saves manufacturers costs and importantly reduces the time to market.

In 7 steps towards ISO 27001:2022

ISO 27001, the globally recognized standard for information security, underwent an update. The revised standard ISO 27001:2022 was published on 25 October 2022 and contains several technical corrections and a completely revised Annex A. A transition period of three years applies to the renewed standard, which means that certified organizations must have transferred by November 1st 2025, at the latest. Below are the seven necessary steps before executing the transition audit.

IT assurance reporting increasingly popular, but what exactly is it?

The growing number of requirements for information and IT security instigates more and more organizations to demonstrate that they have done everything within reach to comply with applicable laws and regulations and that they work according to recognized quality and information security standards. In addition to certification in accordance with the ISO 27001 standard for information security, an increasing number of organizations is opting for IT assurance reports such as ISAE 3402 and SOC 2.

Kiwa officially accredited for ISO 27001:2022

The Accreditation Council (RvA) has accredited Kiwa as of the 1st of February 2023 for assessment according to the ISO 27001:2022 standard for information security. This means that as of the 1st of March 2023 Kiwa may issue recognized certificates according to the latest version of ISO 27001. A transition period of three years applies to ISO 27001:2022. Certified organizations must therefore have transitioned by the 1st of November 2025.

New year, new name: Telefication rebrands to Kiwa

From January 2023 Telefication B.V. will transfer all certification services to the Kiwa brand. Within the next few weeks the Telefication.com website will also be entirely transferred to Kiwa.com. Hence Kiwa Nederland B.V. has taken over all rights and responsibilities from Telefication B.V..

‘ISO 9001 certificate ensures quality and stability’

Every year, several newborn babies are abandoned in the Netherlands. Stichting Beschermde Wieg (Protected Cradle Foundation) is a volunteer organization which helps pregnant women who avoid regular care by providing accessible preventive help and guidance to prevent babies from being abandoned or killed. The foundation wants to expand and decided to use the ISO 9001 quality standard as a blueprint for this. Policy officer Ingrid Meulenbelt tells more about it.

Kiwa helps Portugal convert to 100% H2

Autumn 2022 Kiwa has started two new projects in Portugal for two Portuguese gas district system operators: H2REN for REN Portgás and Retrofit for Floene. In commission of these two operators, Kiwa will assess the suitability of their gas distribution networks for hydrogen.

Recently Kiwa has been announced as a finalist for the Hydrogen Awards of 2023, where businesses are highlighted for their contribution to the hydrogen industry. The commissioning of our new hydrogen production plant has played a major role in the nomination.

IECEE appoints Kiwa for the IEC 62443: Cyber security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems

The IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE) recently appointed Kiwa to carry out assessments and certifications in the context of the series of standards IEC 62443. Kiwa was already partially accredited, but this accreditation has now been expanded to include even more parts of the standard. To qualify for this allocation, Kiwa successfully completed the IECEE Certification Body Testing Laboratory (CBTL) and National Certification Body (NCB) audits.

Transition to new version ISO 27001

The new version of ISO 27001 was published on 25 October 2022. A transition period of three years applies and certified organizations must therefore have switched to ISO 27001:2022 on  November 1st 2025. Below we have listed the most important information about the transition process.

Kiwa issues first KiwaGreen certificate to Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik

Kiwa has issued the first KiwaGreen certificate to Hundhausen Kunststofftechnik GmbH in Achim, Germany. The company that specializes in plastic pipes for among others power and water supply and data transfer has set a long-term goal (2030-2050) to become energy or climate-neutral. The certification indicates that Hundhausen is actually applying a responsible and sustainable value chain.

NEW Kiwa 20% Hydrogen Ready Mark

The new (voluntary) Kiwa 20% Hydrogen Mark for natural gas appliances burning up to 20% Hydrogen admixture, using EN15502 as the reference standard.

Publication: Technical considerations when testing hydrogen valves with air

Hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources can make an important contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. When hydrogen gas is to be transported through the existing gas pipelines, the safety level has to be at least the same as for the transportation of natural gas. This means that important safety questions need to be answered, for example when it comes to the leak tightness of pipes and components that are used with hydrogen gas.
